Springfield superintendent Grenita Lathan to speak

July Summer Sounding Board (for League members and friends)

Speaker: Dr. Grenita Lathan, Superintendent, Springfield Public Schools

Monday, July 17
6 p.m., The Library Center, 4653 S Campbell Ave., Springfield

Dr. Grenita Lathan views her role as Chief Advocate for Springfield Public Schools, its students and employees. During the school year that just ended, Dr. Lathan’s work focused on three key goals:
  • Review and revise the strategic plan
  • Increase student performance
  • Enhance communication

Achieving these important goals requires that everyone–students, employees, parents and community members–be active participants in the process, Dr. Lathan believes.

On the flip side, Dr. Lathan also encourages involvement in the community. She knows from personal experience the positive impact it can have on young people. She is very involved in two international service organizations for women, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and The Links. The superintendent also serves on the boards of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, and Community Partnership of the Ozarks and the Campaign Cabinet of United Way of the Ozarks.

Join us as we learn more about Dr. Lathan’s impact on Springfield Public Schools and her efforts to positively impact the 24,500 students and 3,500 employees who learn and work at Springfield Public Schools
