Be part of SWMO public input to end gerrymandering of Missouri’s new district lines
Join folks from across southwest Missouri on July 21 via Zoom to learn how mapping your community ahead of redistricting this year will end gerrymandering as we know it.
Too often, Missouri’s new legislative district map lines have been drawn by lobbyists and politicians without real public input and without truly honoring our communities.
We are working to change that.
Share your voice on Wednesday, July 21 to ensure your area is fairly represented. The League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri and Show Me Integrity board members will teach you how to:
1. Use an easy online tool to identify places that are important to you, that make up your “community of interest.”
2. Identify locations that could constitute a proposed Senate and House district that makes sense for your area.
Once you’re done, your maps will be reviewed and compiled by a nonpartisan team into a community map of the whole state, which will be proposed to the decision-makers who have the authority to pass the maps into law.
We need volunteers in southwestern Missouri to submit as many maps as possible. RSVP to our virtual event today!
