League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri Meetings & Programs
The League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri has numerous meeting and program opportunities available to members:
Unit meetings: These small group meetings are held monthly.* Here is where League members discuss local action as well as state and national issues, learning from local experts and League panels. Each member selects the unit meeting that best fits her/his own schedule. *Unit meetings are not held in the months of December, June, July, or August.
- Third Monday, 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting, The Pitch Pizza & Pub, 2924 E. Sunshine, Springfield.
- Third Tuesday, noon, Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library, 2214 Brentwood Blvd., Springfield.
General meetings: At least three general membership meetings are held throughout the year. All members are invited. Topics are determined by the board.
Summer Sounding Board: These casual meetings are held in June, July and August. Dates and locations to be announced.
Public forums: Candidate forums and ballot issue forums are scheduled during election season.
Annual meeting: In May, League members gather for a business meeting to determine issue priorities for the coming year, review finances and elect officers and board members.
Noteworthy Dates: Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women’s right to vote, Aug. 18; Birthday of the League of Women Voters, Feb. 14. Women’s Equality Day, Aug. 26. National Voter Registration Day, Sept. 19
