We Provide Nonpartisan Voter and Election Information

Kelly Wood

Want to learn more about our democracy? The League of Women Voters can provide a nonpartisan educational program for your community group or event. While we make this service available to our Southwest Missouri communities at no cost, we warmly welcome contributions so we can expand our outreach.
Here are our current Speakers Bureau topics:
  • Does My Vote Make a Difference? — Presentation on the importance of voting, including the process of elections and a voting “game.”
  • Votes for Women: The League’s Suffragist History—The 19th Amendment to the US Constitution marks its 100th anniversary in 2020. Learn about the women’s suffrage movement and its impact and relevance today.
  • Young People: Why Vote?—For college students and young adults:A presentation on why voting matters.
  • Barriers to Voting: For older adults and residents of care facilities: A focused look at absentee voting and overcoming other barriers to voting.
  • Amendment 1 (“Clean Missouri”) — Fair district maps and campaign finance reform and how Missouri’s Constitution was changed in 2018.
All presentations are nonpartisan. The League never supports candidates or political parties. The League does advocate for politics and issues on which we have determined a position.
