Nonpartisan radio interviews start July 12
A coalition of community organizations led by the League of Women Voters is again producing a series of nonpartisan interviews with candidates on the Aug. 2 primary election ballot, when voters will narrow the field of candidates for U.S. Congress and Missouri General Assembly.
The brief conversations will air at noon on KSMU Ozarks Public Radio (91.1 FM) beginning July 12. A video version will be available to the public afterward at ksmu.org and other coalition websites.
The coalition selected three contested races for state legislature as well as the race for U.S. Representative, District 7, replacing Rep. Billy Long.
Here’s the schedule (for details, see below):
- U.S. Representative, District 7, Democrats and Republicans: airs at noon July 12, 13, and 14.
- State Senate, Republican candidates for District 20 and District 30, airs at noon July 18 and 19.
- State Representative, Republican candidates for District 137, airs at noon July
Aug. 2 is a primary election so voters will request a ballot for their preferred political party, with candidates from only that party on the ballot. Voters are not required to be registered in a particular party.
