National John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Action Day

Day of Action for voter rights

The League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri is asking citizens to take action on Saturday, May 8, to mark a National Day of Action for the John Lewis Voter Rights Advancement Act, known in Congress as Hour Resolution 4 (HR4).

Passage of the John Lewis Voter Rights Advancement Act coupled with the For the People Act (Hour Resolution 1 / Senate Resolution 1) aim to protect voter rights and fix the broken U.S. election system.

The League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri supports passage of these bills and asks citizens in Greene, Webster, and Christian counties to contact Missouri Senators Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley, asking for their Yes vote.

“Nothing else we do as voters this year will come close to the importance of passing these bills,” said Marge Bramer, co-president of the League of SWMO. “We must act now to ensure that our democracy will move closer to the reality of a government of, by, and for the people.”
