Ready for National Voter Registration Day!

The League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri works year-round to make sure all eligible citizens have the opportunity to register and vote—especially first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, communities of color and low-income residents.

Tuesday, Sept. 28, is National Voter Registration Day and the League has planned no fewer than six locations where citizens can register for the first time or check that their registrations are up to date. Find League members who are also deputy registrars with the Greene and Christian County Clerks at these locations:

Drury University, 11:30 am -1:30 pm

Park Central Library, 128 Park Central Square, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm

The Library Station, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

The Library Center 4653 S. Campbell Ave., 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Nixa branch of the Christian County Library, 208 N. McCroskey St., 9 am – 7 pm

At Missouri State University, student volunteers with the group Paws to the Polls will hold a voter registration drive.

Another way to ensure your voice is heard in coming elections is by visiting VOTE411.org where you can register to vote or check that your registration is up to date.

Why it matters  Every eligible voter should have a fair and equal opportunity to register to vote and to cast their ballot. Hundreds of Missourians miss the opportunity to vote because they don’t know how to register or they miss the state deadline to register.

What the League of Women Voters is doing  As the nation’s largest and longest-standing grassroots voter registration organization, the League of Women Voters has volunteers who register hundreds of thousands of voters and host community voter registration drives across the United States each year.
